Special Olympics:

NN Elks supports the local chapter of Special Olympics.  We hold a number of events during the
year to raise funds to present to this worthy cause.Largest sports group for people with intellectual disabilities in Virginia is Special Olympics is Virginia’s
Donations to  Special Olympics helps to provide equipment, attire, and health supplies that can help
transform an athlete’s life

Elks Hoop Shoot:

Kids 8 – 13 from our area are able to step up and take their shot at having their name displayed
in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.  Participants start at the local area and compete to
move up to district, state, then national level competition.

Elks National Foundation:

Elk members can contribute to this worthy endeavor.  Through the donations from the
members from all the lodges, the monies are combined and use to help build stronger communities
where Elks live and work.  This includes helping send students to college, youth build lifelong skills,
helping veterans, drug awareness, and many other worthy causes .  It helps local Elks lodges support
their projects and charities where they live.

Holiday Food Baskets:

During the Thanksgiving and Christmas season, NN Elks takes monetary donations and food
items to prepare food baskets for individuals who have been pointed out by members as being in need
of help during the holiday season.

Elks Scholarship Fund:

High school seniors from our area are encouraged to fill out scholarship forms for a chance to
meet and state level finals.  There are a number of scholarships available.  All the local high schools were
send an information packet.

Peninsula Rescue Mission:

• Men’s short term emergency shelter,
• Help with meals, clothing, medication, and more.
• Providing food assistance for families, Thanksgiving meals for families, and Christmas gifts for children.
• Operates a free summer camp for needy families.

NN Elks provides donations to this worthy cause

Newport News Denbigh Days:

• Denbigh Day Parade and Festival includes: a parade, live music, games, inflatables, educational
  displays, photo ops, arts & crafts vendors, pony rides, bungee jump, amusements, food vendors
  and more!
• NN Elks participates in this annual festival and hands out drug awareness information to parents
  / kids to encourage kids to stay away from drugs.

Youth Activities:

• Our committee strives to hel in aid for our community and local chapters to serve youth of today.
• This includes many activities such as
• Summer youth camp
• Angel tree for Christmas
• Trunk or Treat for a safe Halloween venue
• And many other events and fund raising events.

Elks Safety Glasses Program:

A program thru the national Elks.org to provide safety glasses to groups who need these
protective glasses.

Thrive Peninsula:

NN Elks supports this worthy program which help with homelessness in the area.

Elks Dictionary Program:

An Elk National program which provides dictionaries to school age kids to help with literacy

Elks Veterans and USO Program

NN Elks has a robust program which supports the Veteran Community.  This outreach includes
assisting homeless veterans, the VA hospital, veterans / military in the community and also
providing funding to the local USO programs.

Toys 4 Tots

NN Elks supports this program with fund raising events to help under privileged children.

Elks Drug Awareness Program (DAP)

Part of the Elks National effort, NN Elks lodge provides programs to ensure important
information is available to school age children and their parents

Virginia Elks Fund

A program for the Elks Lodges in the State of Virginia which allows funds to be combined for
programs around the state

Virginia Elks Charitable Trust

Virginia Elks Youth Camp, Inc., serves deserving boys and girls aged 8 to 13 years old. We offer a broad program of activities in the belief that the program must be diversified enough to serve the varied needs and interests of our campers. These activities vary from team sports to individual projects.
